The Sleeping Buddha, also known as the Reclining Buddha, represents the Buddha’s final earthly moments before attaining Parinirvana, a state beyond suffering, desire, and the cycle of rebirth.
It is said that at the age of 80, the Buddha rested peacefully beneath the sacred Sal trees of Kushinagar, lying on his right side with calm acceptance and inner serenity.
Rather than symbolizing ordinary sleep, the Sleeping Buddha reflects ultimate peace, enlightenment, and liberation of the soul.
His final words continue to inspire millions:
“Be lamps unto yourselves.”
It is believed that keeping the image of the Sleeping Buddha invites:
PEACE · BALANCE · INNER HARMONY
